The Sun Is Always Shining

On Monday I headed to Estes Park, Colorado for an annual worship leader retreat, which is where I'm writing from now - at like 7500+ feet up here in the Rocky Mountains. I am continually thankful that God has made it possible for me to get here these last few years, a miracle within itself. I treasure these times when God meets me here on this mountain...even though it usually involves a whole box of Kleenex!

No More Goodbyes (Essentials Blue)

For: The Institute of Contemporary And Emerging Worship Studies, St. Stephen's University, Essentials Blue Online Worship Theology Course with Dan Wilt

A gentleman in our church has been fighting lung cancer for some time. Recently, the doctors told him the cancer had spread and that there was nothing more they could do but try to keep him comfortable. They hoped he could last three to six months on hospice care, but after only a few weeks, David quietly slipped off into glory last night.

Headfirst Into The Wind

It's January 8th. After several weeks of gray and overcast weather, feeling terribly sun-deprived, I am now thrilled to see blue sky, white puffy clouds and patches of sunshine. I am aching to get out there and soak up as much of the sun as I can. There's just one problem: it is REALLY windy!

Sheri Featured On Global UMC Website

Due to her connection with United Methodist Church over the years, Sheri has recently had five of her songs featured on their Global worship site, which serves as a resource for worship leaders in UMC churches.

The five songs presently included are: Take Me to the Cross, Sing Your Praise, Shout Aloud, You Are Love, and Fearless Now.

Renew A Right Spirit Within Me

Have you ever just felt "out of sorts" - perhaps angry, upset, bothered, depressed, discouraged - just not yourself? I've had one of those days today. When you have a day like that, doesn't it seem the silliest and pettiest things can just throw you right off the edge?

On Being Misunderstood

I realized today that, for me personally, being misunderstood is one of the most painful things in relationships with other human beings.

Involved with being misunderstood is often a judgment of your character, motives, or heart. Sometimes it means someone - even one whom you dearly love or care about - thought you intentionally tried to hurt them, rebel against them, or lash out against them. Sometimes it means they think less of you, get angry at you, or try to take revenge - for something you have no idea you even "did!"

Where the heck is Sheri Carr?

Summer 2008 at a Braves baseball game in Atlanta.

Lately, someone contacted me because they had heard I was "not leading worship in the Vineyard anymore" and they wanted to know why. I thought it was a great question, and that there might be others wondering the same thing. For those who would like to know "Where the heck is Sheri Carr these days?" - I'd love to share with you the journey my husband and I have been on these past few years! Now, go grab a piece of pumpkin pie and a cup of hot cider or something....cause this one might get LONG!

Ordering Our Days the Kingdom Way

"If you wake me each morning with the sound of your loving voice,
I'll go to sleep each night trusting in you.
Point out the road I must travel;
I'm all ears, all eyes before you...
Teach me how to live to please you,
because you're my God." (Psalm 143:8-9)

For the past 12+ years, I've basically been on staff at a church (all except for a six-month span when I was in YWAM). Each week seemed to go like clockwork...every Sunday morning service came around again at the same time. I pretty well knew what I needed to accomplish each day, what hours had to put in, what preparations were necessary for a job "well-done" etc. But these past few months have been a bit different for me.
