Sunshine and water does wonders for the soul...
Once in a while I have to sneak over to my mother-in-law's neighborhood pool to enjoy a few hours of sun and splash around a bit. Why is it that it so refreshes me, this simple thing? I love just listening to the breeze, listening to kids play in the water, reading a book or magazine, writing in my journal, just feeling the warmth of the sun, munching on some snacks and cool drinks from the cooler, then getting too hot and jumping back in to cool off again. I even splurged on a bright new "floatie" (which I got on clearance at Target for $2.98!) and felt like a little kid all over again. :)
I could stay at the pool for hours (but then I end up with a horrible sunburn, like I did last week, and which now has my skin peeling - eeeww!), so I try to go in the late afternoon/early evening when the Georgia sun is not so potent. I'm like one of those little kids that never wants to go home. Sometime I wish I could camp out by the pool, wake up there again and do the same thing the next day. But I guess I'd be a shriveled up raisin if I did that! But all in all, I've decided I need to get outdoors more. And I need to have more time to just sit still and enjoy the breeze and sun, you know? What amazing things God has created for us to enjoy.
What have you done this summer that truly refreshes your soul?
Sheri
