Magnificent
So out of the blue yesterday, a new friend of my husband gifted tickets to us he was unable to use for last night's U2 concert in Atlanta. I found out at 5pm that we were jumping in the car to head downtown! In the midst of a rough few months and weeks...what a gift from the Lord. My husband is not a *huge* U2 fan - though he can appreciate their music - but I am! I had never seen them in person before. What a treat!
It was so fun to hear the "classic" stuff (like "Mysterious Ways," "Sunday Bloody Sunday," and "With Or Without You") and to hear new arrangements (like the nearly "rave" version of "I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight" when Larry was dancing around the stage with a conga! So fun!)...and it gave me goosebumps to hear Bono sing Amazing Grace before he went on to sing "Where the Streets Have No Name."
But I think I'd have to say that I think one of my favorite moments of the night was their song "Magnificent." The lyrics just hit me so hard - especially the second verse and the chorus . As I watched Bono on the big screen, I could sense him worshipping from his heart and it just really touched me. It was certainly a night I will not forget!!!!
MAGNIFICENT
Magnificent
Oh, oh, magnificent
I was born, I was born
To be with you in this space and time
After that and ever after
I haven't had a clue only to break rhyme
This foolishness can leave a heart black and blue, oh, oh
Only love, only love can leave such a mark
But only love, only love can heal such a scar
I was born, I was born to sing for you
I didn't have a choice but to lift you up
And sing whatever song you wanted me to
I give you back my voice from the womb
My first cry, it was a joyful noise, oh, oh
Only love, only love can leave such a mark
But only love, only love can heal such a scar
Justified, till we die you and I will magnify, oh, oh
Magnificent, magnificent, oh, oh
Only love, only love can leave such a mark
But only love, only love unites our hearts
Justified, till we die you and I will magnify, oh, oh
Magnificent, magnificent, magnificent
