What songs I've been singing...
So a while back I asked you all for input on some cover songs to use in performance settings as a way to reach outside the church and use the gifts the Lord has given me...but I never told you which songs I chose or how that's been going!
I sang recently for the Flowery Branch Spring Festival and it was loads of fun (though I got burned to a crisp since I didn't think about sunscreen!). Thanks to those who came out to support me. It was a good way to get my feet wet in a different kind of setting than a church service or worship conference. I hope to have the opportunity to do more of this at local restaurants/events/etc in the near future.
Here are some samples from my set list:
Bad Day (Daniel Powter)
The First Cut Is the Deepest (Sheryl Crow)
Fallen (Sarah McLaughlin)
Fix You (Coldplay)
Anyway (Martina McBride)
Light In Your Eyes (Sheryl Crow)
Shadowfeet (Brooke Fraser)
I Need You to Love Me (BarlowGirl)
Love Song (Sara Bareilles)
Love Is Here (Tenth Avenue North)
I continue to be stretched to learn more and more about sowing seeds wherever the Lord opens the door, even if it sometimes looks nothing like I expect. I try to question Him less, trust Him more, and continue to step out in faith by taking risks more often. I falter often, stumble regularly, but keep walking a day at a time and seeking to know Him more.
I know that apart from Him, we have nothing to offer this world. Empower us, Lord! Give us courage to step out in boldness and humility, not afraid to appear foolish for Your sake, for Your glory.
May we all stay rooted and grounded in Him!
John 15:5-8 (The Message)
"I am the Vine, you are the branches. When you're joined with me and I with you, the relation intimate and organic, the harvest is sure to be abundant. Separated, you can't produce a thing. Anyone who separates from me is deadwood, gathered up and thrown on the bonfire. But if you make yourselves at home with me and my words are at home in you, you can be sure that whatever you ask will be listened to and acted upon. This is how my Father shows who he iswhen you produce grapes, when you mature as my disciples."
